Ernest Borgnine (né Ermes Effron Borgnino ; 24 janvier 1917 - 8 juillet 2012) était un acteur américain dont la carrière a duré plus de six décennies. Il était connu pour sa voix bourrue mais calme et son sourire de chat du Cheshire aux dents écartées. Interprète populaire, il est également apparu en tant qu'invité dans de nombreux talk-shows et en tant que panéliste dans plusieurs jeux télévisés. La carrière cinématographique de Borgnine a commencé en 1951 et comprenait des rôles de soutien dans China Corsair (1951), From Here to Eternity (1953), Vera Cruz (1954), Bad Day at Black Rock (1955) et The Wild Bunch (1969). Il a également joué le rôle principal non conventionnel dans de nombreux films, remportant l'Oscar du meilleur acteur pour Marty (1955). Il a obtenu un succès continu dans la sitcom McHale's Navy (1962-1966), dans laquelle il a joué le personnage principal, et a joué le rôle de Dominic Santini dans la série d'action Airwolf (1984-1986), en plus d'une grande variété d'autres rôles. .
